MAKE YOUR SUMMER AWESOME CAMPS ANN ARBOR!   Join us in our 6th year of SUMMER CAMPS at our convenient downtown Ann Arbor location.  Our mixture of making and moving fits all ages 5 and up! We have a dynamic offering this summer including Sculpey clay, Lego & Building Camp, Slimes and Potions Camp, a street art week and so much more!  To sign up and reserve your child's space email makebykhadijah@gmail.com The small class size ratio's encourage you to sign up as soon as you are sure of the dates and times.

We know how to engage children within their own unique ebb and flow of focus and expansion. Students all have different abilities and are able to create within our multi aged classroom at their own level.  The morning is filled with a different theme every week.  However there is always room for interest based projects in our small 1:7 (max) ratio classroom.

For full day students the afternoon will consist of individual based interest projects as well as a trip to the WSG gallery, movement games, and dance parties.  Our studio is a mix of focus on individual projects but also the ability to wonder and play at each child's focus level.  Older students are included in this formula as all creating includes the time and ability to wonder, imagine and plan.

Which is why we have multiple hand made worlds to doddle and tinker at while your child goes back and forth naturally within their own ability to focus and expand through natural play and imagination.  An element that benefits ALL AGES of children.  Far too often children 7 and above are playing and imagining less.  At MAKE we want to bring back imagination in an unrushed unpressured setting.

Full day students please pack a lunch.  If your child has any sensitivities at all please note when signing up through email at makebykhadijah@gmail.com

With our beautifully lit studio students will leave with a variety of made slime, playdough and imagination!

No Camp Session July 1st through July 5th

Session 3:  MAKE.  Shrinky Dink and Illustration Camp July 8th-July 12th

This will be an amazing camp filled with drawing for production… using SHRINKY DINKS… I know it sounds cheesy, but it’s really amazing what the art world is doing with this MAGICAL medium. I love to present them to kids with teaching the intentional part of design: planning… A much needed skill as the shrinky dink paper obviously shrinks.  Kids will design keeping in mind that all proportions, lines, colors and forms will shrink and change. We will focus on making functional art including jewelry, magnets, mobiles, and more.

Session 4:  MAKE.  Fairy Camp  July 15th-July 19th

Join us for a week filled with EVERYTHING FAIRY!  At MAKE we love the fairy week as we will make fairy gardens, fairy doors, fairy wands, fairy wings using every kind of art material we have!  We will also do a small fairy tour to the doors downtown Ann Arbor within the one block vicinity of our downtown studio for students to drop off their fairy treats they make out of clay and other objects.  A dynamic week for sure!

Session 5:  MAKE.  Abstract Art Collection Camp July 22nd-July 26th
Makers will learn the major aspects of abstract art and design.  They will make mixed media projects that will include utilizing space, dimension, and color.  Abstract art is the expression of feelings and other abstract thoughts and concepts.  Students will explore ways to express themselves with a a variety of techniques, mediums, doodles and other thought up ideas.  It's a exciting week that allows total creativity and open ended thinking!  Students will leave with a collection of work at the end of the week.

Session 6:  MAKE.  LEGO worlds and Building Camp July 29th-August 2nd

This dynamic new camp to MAKE YOUR SUMMER AWESOME offerings is sure to be a hit.  Not only will we have TONS of legos to build with we explore architecture, city buildings and planning and more.  We will take many photographs of built work to showcase as framed art at the end of the week.  Students are allowed to bring in their own lego sets as we will have an organized system of workspaces.  We will also be making cardboard buildings, sets, and backdrops with paint, clay and a variety of other materials to photograph the lego creations your student makes.  A camp I am sure will fill up fast as Legos are a huge fave!

Session 7:  MAKE.  Public and Street Art Camp August 5th-August 9th
Makers will learn about the importance of art in our communities.  What does art add to our surroundings? How does art inspire society and our community?  This will be a skill building workshop.  A small project based camp will have students work together and individually to create a public art installation in downtown Ann Arbor.   Planning, sketching, brain storming, idea generating, goal setting and production schedule will all be innovative concepts used in this camp to make a public art installation of the groups choosing.  I did the Fish on The Fence project for the past few years at Ann Arbor Open School.  We painted fish, and attached to fence to bring awareness to the Huron River and make the fence a work of art or school of "fish".  A project similar to this will be discussed as an idea however students will make this decision as a group.

Session 8:  MAKE.  Mixed Media Camp August 12th-August 16th

Join us for a more open ended camp week with tons of inspiration discussed at the beginning of class including modern artists that utilize found and made objects to make collections on canvas.  Each student will think up, plan and make a cohesive collection using clay, acrylic and watercolor paint, fabric, markers, crayons and so much more that we have to offer for this week.  Truly an independent individual offering for the artist in all of us.  Experimenting in color schemes, mediums and more each student will develop a style.

Session 9:  MAKE.  Sculptures and Mobile Camp August 19th-August 23rd

This camp will focus on sculpture as fine art.  Using paper, clay, found objects and more each student will learn how to build and support their own collection of sculptures.  We will be viewing a variety of artists daily to be inspired by.  Paper mache will also be happening this week which I am super excited for.  Each student will come home with a dynamic mix of sculptures to display hand and delight in.

Session 10:  MAKE.  Miniature City and World Camp August 26th-August 30th
Students who love to work with clay will LOVE this camp.  We will start each class with clay play and different toys to play in the clay with (dinosaurs, small figurines, trees, beads, flowers and more).  We will then create with clay to make miniature dioramas of worlds, habitats, places or buildings inside a gift box for each student to take home at the end of the week to display with enthusiasm.  The sky is the limit…  errrr… actually it’s not…  We can create outer space and planets if we are inclined!  ONE awesome long time make art studio student made a black hole with this idea.
